Rugby 2012

Lundi 11 juin 2012 il est 18h au stade d'(Oakwood Collegiate Institute) les élèves du LFT se préparent à leur premier match de rugby à 7 dans leur tout nouveau maillot.  Mais en attendant l'heure du match, on peut lire à cet instant précis la crispation sur le visage des joueurs.

Il est 18h 30 l'arbitre donne le coup d'envoi pour le baptême de l'équipe du LFT rugby, dans une ambiance surchauffée on aurait cru voir 30 joueurs, mais non ils ne sont que 8, oui 8 acteurs, 8 guerriers; plaquages après plaquages, présents dans tous les secteurs de jeu.

Oui vous l'avez fait vous n'avez pas eu peur d'aller au charbon, défier cette équipe de nomades venue en grande pompe.  C'était un match épique à l'image de david et goliath car le rugby est un sport avec ses valeurs: Grands, gros, maigres, intelligents ou pas; tout le monde à sa place.

Physical and mental demands, surpassing oneself and respect for others
It's 6pm on Monday June 11, 2012 and the LFT students are preparing for their first rugby 7s game (wearing their brand new jerseys) at the Oakwood Collegiate Institute pitch.  As the beginning of the match approaches you can see the tension on the player's faces. 

At 6:30pm the referee calls the kick off for the inaugural game for the LFT rugby team.  In a heated contest, you would have believed that LFT had over 30 players - but no, there were only 8 players, 8 warriors; tackle after tackle, engaged in every aspect of the game. 
You did it, you were not afraid to go head to head, challenging the Nomads who brought out their army.  It was an epic game, reminisent of David and Goliath, as rugby is a sport that values all players.  Big, skinny, tall, short, brilliant or not; everyone has a place on the rugby pitch.
